Both the White Oak and Jacksonville football teams lost close games Monday, meaning neither one gained an advantage for a possible 3-A playoff berth.
One of the teams, however, could garner a postseason bid when the Vikings and Cardinals take on each other Friday night.
White Oak fell to West Brunswick, 28-27, after the Vikings missed a field goal with seven seconds left. The thing that hurts the most for WOHS is that the Vikes should have emerged the victor.
The Vikings’ Adrain Williams and Joey Tamburo combined for 298 yards on the ground. Unfortunately, White Oak failed to convert on two extra point kicks wand missed a field goal with seven seconds left while also not being able to stop the Trojans to scoring.
The Vikes will need a better defensive performance Friday night against Jacksonville, which fell to to Laney, 14-7, after giving up 240 passing yards.
